Mental distress can diminish the quality of life, impede academic achievement, disrupt relationships, and adversely impact productivity at work. If you or a loved one is suffering from a mental impairment, professional advice or care from a licensed mental health practitioner is highly recommended.

Although the treatment of mental disorders is not our focus at First Care, we have organized these links as good starting points for our patients who wish to learn more about mental health issues.

Know Thyself!
Like to take 'self' tests? We found this collection of psychological tests on a website called healthyplace.com. The site is not well-designed and is poorly maintained (bad links, outdated information, 'pop-up' ads, etc.) but a few of the tests (mainly links to other sites) are quite interesting. Some require that you submit your e-mail address or other personal information which we do not recommend. Also, keep in mind that these online tests are not scientific, are for your entertainment only, and do not replace in any way a formal psychiatric evaluation.

Please note: Some health information websites are privately sponsored by, or receive grants from, various commercial concerns such as pharmaceutical companies. Others may have more overt commercial interests. This does not necessarily mean that the information presented on these sites is any less unbiased than information presented on sites which do not receive funding from commercial sources. Rather, we call your attention to this matter so that you may make fully informed decisions as a healthcare consumer.
